When we say “our fearless leader,” we truly mean it. Andrew lives by the mantra, “Get busy living or get busy dying,” and brings that same intensity to both life and leadership. Whether following an ascent line up a remote Alaskan ridge, riding his motorbike in Latin America, or heading out on another adventure with his wife, Heidi and daughter, Thalia, curiosity, movement, and challenge are central to who he is.

From growing up in a small town in Iowa, to graduating from Pacific University’s optometry program, to years of international travel, Andrew has built his life around exploration, continual learning, and growth. Deeply rooted in Homer, his goal is clear: to provide exceptional patient care while building something meaningful—for both the people he serves and the team he leads.

Andrew embodies every one of Homer Eyecare’s core values, but he does so with high standards and unwavering determination. He is not afraid to be tough, to ask hard questions, or to challenge those around him—because he believes truly in everybody’s ability to rise, grow, and succeed. His leadership is rooted in clear accountability, honesty, and a relentless belief in people becoming their best selves.

He is without any question the heartbeat of Homer Eyecare. A natural problem-solver and true MacGyver, Andrew loves riding motorbikes, tinkering with machines, fixing just about anything—and yes, he has a genuine love for spreadsheets and numbers. But his greatest gift lies in seeing potential—in systems, in ideas, and especially in people—and helping move that potential forward with meaningful purpose.

Andrew places immense value on teamwork. Beyond providing excellent patient care, he finds deep joy in supporting people as they grow—professionally, personally, and collectively—while honoring their ownership of that growth. He communicates with clarity and intention, offering honest guidance, thoughtful challenge, and steady support while staying genuinely invested in the well-being of those around him. He encourages both patients and teammates to pursue fuller lives, meaningful goals, and the confidence to exceed their own expectations.

Serving the Homer community is a responsibility Andrew takes very seriously. In addition to his work at the clinic, he grooms local ski trails, fixes snowmachines, troubleshoots mechanical problems, and helped create a local biathlon program. He believes that what makes Homer special is its people. He also believes the future is wide open—and that together, through shared effort, courage, and care, we are creating something meaningful that will continue to grow long after us.
